Exact dates in December 2022 TBD. A SCAR (self contained adventure racing) event. Cruise around the Hollyford-Big Bay-Pyke circuit utilizing a packraft.

WTF (Wilderness Traverse of Fiordland)

Exact dates in January 2022 TBD. This is part of our SCAR series, but feels more like an adventure race than the Big Hollyday because of the numerous route choices.  Teams of two to four will trek and paddle their way from a start somewhere in Fiordland to a finish line somewhere else.

Kaikōura Mountains to the Sea

Kaikо̄ura Mountains to the Sea is a community-focused event, open to participants of all ages. A new event running around Kaikoura's iconic peninsula and up towards Mt Fyffe. Categories from marathon, half marathon, 10km and 5km. 

Introduction to Backcountry Skiing

The NZAC Intro to Backcountry Skiing Course (IBSC) is a four-day course designed for strong intermediate (or better) skiers with excellent aerobic fitness wanting to get a good grounding in ski touring so they can go experience the winter backcountry by themselves.

The NZAC Leading on Technical Ice Course (LTIC)

Designed for fit mountaineers who are able to look after themselves on 35-degree snow slopes, confidently leading traditional rock climbs, have good rope management skills and experience of camping in snow. (29th July – 1st August | 5th August – 8th August | 19th August – 22nd August)

Nine days in the wilderness. Sylvie Admore, Helen Liley, Sam Richardson, Björn Striebing and Stephen Waite (Auckland University Tramping Club) meet Simon and invite him along on their trip to the Adams Wilderness Area not long after being introduced.
